There are a number things that we do when someone near to us dies--we gather, reminisce, eat, tell stories, laugh, cry. But as Christians we do one thing that is unique. We worship. The funeral service is our worship service, a time in which we gather as God's people to seek comfort from Him in our pain, to be assured of our hope of glory, and to praise the Name of the One who is the Author of Life. In the absence of a funeral service, what do we do? We still gather as God's people and we worship.
